I mostly play hard rock and metal and this amp delivers amazingly. Still, the cleans and lower gain stuff sounds great as well! You should definitely try before you buy though. You might end up just "needing" the Mark V 35.

I own a Flashback X4, Flashback, and an Alter Ego v2 and they all sound amazing in the loop.

Extreme is definitely not as saturated as Mark IV and the bass sounds fuller, esp with my 7 string and tuning down. I still love the Mark IV setting the best, but now and then I will switch to Extreme and I won't move off it for a few days! \m/
