New Mark III Green Stripe owner, few questions!! :)

The slave out on your amp is post power section. The power section is tapped and the signal is reduced to a line level signal. The idea is to get the coloration of the power tubes versus the preamp tapped line out signal which has no power tube influence. Remember, if you use the slave out...

    3+ mod worth the money?

Depends on what you are looking for . A lot of bedroom players like the 3+ mod because it smooths out the treble response. Gigging players can benefit from the stock treble response because it cuts well and it also records very well. I had two blue stripe Mark 3 heads and one had the 3+ mod and...

Help me not blow up a Mark IV!

Without actually checking them in the amp, no one can say for sure. But we all know that Mesa biases their amps extremely cold so it's likely that they will be fine. The bias supply is such in the Mesa simulclass layout that the outer tubes are biased hotter than the two inner sockets.For...

Re: anybody tried KT77 power tubes?

PM sent. I should also add that the tightest sounding EL 34 is likely to be the JJ E34L. It has less bass response than most CHinese or Russian EL34's . IN effect , less bass sounds tighter but not necessarily fuller. I chose 6l6 with Kt 77 in my Mark 3 because the El34's sounded thinner than...

IIC+ is the worst mode on the Mark V, IMO

I didn't fall in love with the sounds either but as mentioned, Mesa put that mode in there to create more of a feel difference than anything. Then again, the Mark 5 has more sag than either the Mark 4 or 5 which then again creates quite a feel difference.

Re: anybody tried KT77 power tubes?

I have a bunch and decided I like to run 6l6 and KT 77's as an integrated quad (more or less) in my Blue Stripe Mark 3. My splawn Nitro came stock with Kt 77 and they were decent on the clean channel but too wide and loose on the gain channel. The Nito was literally made with EL34's in mind...

How Important Is the EQ on a IIC+?

I've owned and played lots of this stuff. And here is the one and only reason I find the graphic Eq effective .....because the midrange control pot does almost nothing on the Mark amps. MArk 2 and 3 heads are midrangey and all I ever do with the graphic is cut a little mids on the 750hz slider...

    Mark IIC+ help

The comment about the ground on the pots is a good one. It could easily be a tone pot or volume/ gain pot . Clean out all the pots thoroughly and test each one to see if it brings out more of the crackling problem.

Mark III vs DC-5 vs Recto

My advice will depend on how you use your amps. If you're playing out or recording where the amp is turned up to where it is designed to be, I would stick with your Mark 3. If you play at home, the DC will sound fuller in the bass response and give you most of the Recto personality without...
