I used the FX return level on my Line 6 HX FX to reduce the volume. -3db wasn't enough and -6db is to much. I don't remember this being an issue before I retubed it. I've had mine more than 8yrs and retubed it last summer after it blew a fuse. Might pull it apart and see if there's any visible...
