    Mesa Mark 1 versus SOB

Can you confirm something for me please? This presence mod is something I'd be interested in having done to tame the harshness and smooth out the lead channel (Input 1) A fellow user though said that by adding a presensce control it will only accentuate the highs even further..Ie presence on 0...

    Help identifying vintage amp

It's a very cool original Boogie Super Sixty ("Mark 1") from about 1974-75..Lovely amp btw.

    Mesa Mark 1 versus SOB

Interesting..I wasn't aware there were so many differences as apparently the SOB was a Mark 1 preamp? The only reason I can think of why your amp wouldn't sound the same especially having converted it to exact Mark 1 specs is possibly becuase the Original Mark 1 had some tone shaping going on...

    Mesa Mark 1 versus SOB

I also have a SOB 60 watt (Non reverb)..I've never played an original Mark 1 but have heard lots of clips and my SOB sounds a lot more aggresive and lacks the smooth Boogie lead sound on input 1.. I've read that adding a presence pot makes it a lot smoother as the the lack of one means it's...

    My Boogie Mark IIB Story

I'm afraid you're mistaken pal..It's a 50 watt speaker and it definitely wouldn't have came stock in a Mk IV..More likely that would have been an EV 12L

    My Boogie Mark IIB Story

Exact same amp as mine..Just be careful with that speaker as it's only 50 watts..I suppose if you're not playing loud that should be ok but that speaker was originally for a 22 watt amp (Studio 22) and the caliber 50 used it too I think. The mark IIB originally came with the MS12 150 watts or the...

Mark IIB effects look switching basic question

There isn't a function to use a footswitch for the loop to switch it on/off on the Mark IIB..(Not stock anyway)The loop is always "on" The footswitches on the underside of the chassis are typically for gain boost/Eq/Reverb.

    Mark IIB...adding reverb?

They wouldn't have..The reverb versions have boards with 4 preamp tubes (Plus the power board with the output tubes and phase inverter tube)but the standard sixty has the non reverb 3 tube preamp board..It would take a good bit of modding if even possible as Mesa haven't had the old mark II...

    Mark IIB...adding reverb?

The preamp pcb's for reverb and non reverb models are completely different..Obviously there's an additional tube slot too..They were labeled SP9A/B etc for non reverb and R..for reverb models.

Major power loss on my Mark2B.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Major power loss on my Mark2B.

Hi..One easy thing to try is putting a patch cable in the effetcs loop from the effects send into return.Sometimes these jacks can become corroded or dirty and cause problems like that..Certainly worth a try. Have you tried it with a different speaker/cable?

    what is this SOB??

Ah ok! I have a 60 watter SOB and love it too. I would like to have the limit converted to a mark I/II style presence control to "warm" it up a bit as I believe without the presence control it's like having presesence on 10 which is a bit brighter than I like on the overdrive channel/input 1.I...

    what is this SOB??

I don't think this is MESA's work but should be fairly easy to have it returned to stock? As for the Limit control. This actually starves the Phase Inverter allowing you to get more power tube overdrive at quiter levels. Not really a master volume in the true sense but does act similarly in that...
