Interesting..I wasn't aware there were so many differences as apparently the SOB was a Mark 1 preamp? The only reason I can think of why your amp wouldn't sound the same especially having converted it to exact Mark 1 specs is possibly becuase the Original Mark 1 had some tone shaping going on...

There isn't a function to use a footswitch for the loop to switch it on/off on the Mark IIB..(Not stock anyway)The loop is always "on" The footswitches on the underside of the chassis are typically for gain boost/Eq/Reverb.

They wouldn't have..The reverb versions have boards with 4 preamp tubes (Plus the power board with the output tubes and phase inverter tube)but the standard sixty has the non reverb 3 tube preamp board..It would take a good bit of modding if even possible as Mesa haven't had the old mark II...

The preamp pcb's for reverb and non reverb models are completely different..Obviously there's an additional tube slot too..They were labeled SP9A/B etc for non reverb and R..for reverb models.

Hi..One easy thing to try is putting a patch cable in the effetcs loop from the effects send into return.Sometimes these jacks can become corroded or dirty and cause problems like that..Certainly worth a try. Have you tried it with a different speaker/cable?

You could try powering the amp up with the power tubes removed and see if the amp stays on..This will rule out any problems with the tubes themselves. Also check the voltage selector switch on the back to make sure it's at 240v for the UK.

I thought the OP was talking about the cascading gain in the preamp for the overdrive in which case all Mark IIB's use cascading gain to acheive the overdrive.
