    Combo Shell for JP2C

Hello there Does anyone know if a combo shell for an early Mk amp (before mkV) would work with the JP2C head? Thanks -kevin

    JP-2C vs. Friedman Smallbox test

vote cast. def very close in many ways. I wonder how much of that is the Torpedo... (as well as my "eh" monitor speakers). Interesting how "marshally" the JP can be.

    JP-2C at mid gain!

nice sounds - what are you using to record (mic, pre, etc...) FYI - I just got an sE guitaRF - which makes mic placement and phase alignment super easy and consistent. Getting ready to do some recordings myself will post once I've got some stuff. @richprice79 - I've got the LE as well. I...

I was about to sell my JP but then I found something.

I've got a small volume "pedal" in the loop that I use as the master vol. Works great and I control it from my board. http://saturnworkspedals.com/product/volume/ The version I'm using is 100k pot w/ switch. The switch is handy as I can bypass it and it becomes a volume boost (if needed).

    JP2C in a combo..?

hmmm... looks like it might fit in a MkIV cab.

    JP2C in a combo..?

Would be lovely to see this amp in a 1x12 combo with hardwood and wicker grill (not to mention an EV type speaker). Think this be in the cards?

    Extreme mode problem?

The Mk V mode for me does have a volume jump. But certainly a lot less compression that IV mode (and this seems like less overdrive). Cranking up the treble to the 3 o'clock range and hitting the bright switch gets "more" out of it. Personally I like the less-is-more flavor to V mode. But I...

    Pentode or Triode

Lately I've been digging Triode w/ EL34's and in Variac mode - It's really squishy and the mids feel really smooth. However, if I'm recording and there's some tight percussive rhythms needed I'll switch into Pentode and/or Full Power mode. -kevin

My Bubinga MKV Combo has arrived!

Love the bubinga - was originally looking for that, but "settled" on this one - actual one that was purchased. I've got to get some pics of it in the wild - even better looking in person. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Mark5-112PRGF

    Mark V footswitch cable...

You can get from MB: http://mesa.stores.yahoo.net/focaco.html You'll want the 25" or 30" 8-pin Din cable This is a "Yahoo" store - but it's run by MB and linked to from their home page.

    Combo sound diffusion.

This has really helped me in past - but haven't used on my M5 yet: http://www.webervst.com/blocker.html - same idea of the "cd in front of the amp". Should be an easy install in the combo - does cut down tremendously on that "beam-i-ness"

How to keep fs cable secure at the fs

You can try squeezing the metal ring at end of the cable slightly. Very slightly! Making it a bit oval (rather than completely round) would grip the sides tighter. This won't have any affect on the pin connections - which is what you want.

    No Ch 3 Light

bummer ... it's back. What's strange is that the light will come on for about 30 seconds and then go off again. It doesn't really bother me, I'm more concerned if it's a sign of bigger badder things lurking. I had a IV melt down and catch fire once. That was not fun. What's next, pull...

    No Ch 3 Light

Brilliant - that did the trick! FYI - I turned it off unplugged the fs from the back then put it back in. Turned on the amp, clicked ch 3 and the light started flickering. Not quite full on. Then unplugged the fs and put it back in, hit ch 3 and viola' = full red light. Thanks much, bcdon!
