Thanks for your opinion Mace. I just had the chance to try one yesterday. I think I agree with everything you say. I also think that it should need an extension cab because, as it is, I find it too "boxy". Extreme versality for sure but I will keep my Fillmore 25 (head and cab) for now.

Like Markedman said, the "boxy" sound is quite complex. But things are getting much better. I think that the main reason was on the side of the speaker. I don't play often at the moment and not loud at all. It took all this time to see that there is now a good difference now that the speaker...

When you asked the question first, plan-x, I was not near my amp so I went to Mesa's site to see what was the speaker inside the Fillmore 19 cab and it says " Celestion Custom 90". So that was my first answer. But just to make sure, I went upstair, where is the cab to check what was in it and...

Just received my Fillmore 25 head and the Fillmore 19 cab. Sounds a little bit boxy, whatever the settings. Could it be because the speaker is not "broken in" yet ? If so, how long to break in a speaker ?

The "Presence" control can, in certain circumstances, cause this kind of problem when dialled in too high.

Is there a noticeable difference between the sound of the Fillmore 25 head (with the cab Fillmore 19) and the combo ?

No, I don't use an attenuator. I did experience a lot thought ( and I mean "a lot") , with different gain and volume settings and with the e.q.

Did you use the 5 watt mode ? I use it for all kind of overdrive/distortion. Explore different modes with the gain cranked or with the channel volume cranked up.

I would like to know what will be the difference between a 10 inch speaker and a 12 inch.

I don't know what will happen with the price of used 5:25+ since the Express line is now out of production.
