    Odd noise

I have a Mesa Fillmore 25 head and the the cab that goes with it, a 12 in Black Shadow. An odd noise comes out, much like a very fast tremolo and the sound also becomes muddy when I play the minor seventh interval B (6th string 7th fret) and A (5th string 7th fret) or the major seventh interval...

    Mark 5 25 combo 10

Thanks for your opinion Mace. I just had the chance to try one yesterday. I think I agree with everything you say. I also think that it should need an extension cab because, as it is, I find it too "boxy". Extreme versality for sure but I will keep my Fillmore 25 (head and cab) for now.

    Mark 5 25 combo 10

I'm interested in this amp. I would like to have some comments on it by people who played with it. Thanks in advance.

    Boxy ?

Like Markedman said, the "boxy" sound is quite complex. But things are getting much better. I think that the main reason was on the side of the speaker. I don't play often at the moment and not loud at all. It took all this time to see that there is now a good difference now that the speaker...

    Boxy ?

When you asked the question first, plan-x, I was not near my amp so I went to Mesa's site to see what was the speaker inside the Fillmore 19 cab and it says " Celestion Custom 90". So that was my first answer. But just to make sure, I went upstair, where is the cab to check what was in it and...

    Boxy ?

Sorry, yes it's a Black Shadow.

    Boxy ?

    Thanks very much.

    Boxy ?

Just received my Fillmore 25 head and the Fillmore 19 cab. Sounds a little bit boxy, whatever the settings. Could it be because the speaker is not "broken in" yet ? If so, how long to break in a speaker ?

    Incoming: Fillmore 100 head

The "Presence" control can, in certain circumstances, cause this kind of problem when dialled in too high.

    Fillmore 25 head vs combo

Is there a noticeable difference between the sound of the Fillmore 25 head (with the cab Fillmore 19) and the combo ?

Getting a great overdrive sound with Express 5:25+ combo

No, I don't use an attenuator. I did experience a lot thought ( and I mean "a lot") , with different gain and volume settings and with the e.q.

Getting a great overdrive sound with Express 5:25+ combo

Did you use the 5 watt mode ? I use it for all kind of overdrive/distortion. Explore different modes with the gain cranked or with the channel volume cranked up.

    Mark V:25 1x10 combo

I would like to know what will be the difference between a 10 inch speaker and a 12 inch.

Noise gate to remove hiss on clean channel, upgrade to plus?

I don't know what will happen with the price of used 5:25+ since the Express line is now out of production.

Noise gate to remove hiss on clean channel, upgrade to plus?

Hi John, I understand you. When the first Express came out, I didn't buy it for the same reasons that you indicate : to much hiss on the clean channel. And I mostly play jazz, so... The Express 5:25+ is quite something else : I bought it and I don't see when I'm going to depart from it. I rarely...

    Express series being cancelled?

Confirmation : just went to Mesa's site : type in "Express 5:25+" in the search field (because there is no more direct link to it) will bring you to a page figuring the Express with the mention that it is no more in production.

    Express Plus 5:25 1x12

I remember that, a couple of years ago, when the first Express 5:25 got out, that I did not buy it because of the very annoying hiss on the clean channel. But, since the 5:25+, all that has been corrected. I bought it and its a keeper.

    New 5:25+ User with questions

Hi RobQ, welcome to the Express 5:25+, I'm sure that you will love it. It's difficult to suggest a set-up, too many things are involved. On thing thought that I might suggest since you are new to Mesa is to read the manual. Mesa's tone stack is different than other amps, in particular, they are...

    Voicings

Great info Newysurfer, thanks. The cleans on my 5:25+ is what made me buy this amp. I remember having tried a Lonestar Special a couple of years ago to be astonished by the cleans on this amp. But it was much too heavy for me. About the same time I tried a 5:25 (non+), it was nice but it had too...
