    Mark VII in country music

I have been tracking a lot of country people in the past few months and have pretty much used the VII exclusively as the main amp. I think it's been fantastic. This is one of the songs that we used the VII on. I Got You

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

So for the past week I've been messing with preamp tubes in the Mark VII, I have tried a few long plate Mullards, Chinese square foil getter 12ax7b, a Phillips 12at7 in the phase inverter and sovtek 12ax7lps in a few positions. At the end of the day, I kind of feel like this amp is designed for...

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

I've been curious about how much bigger/punchier the JP2C is. To me my mark vii sounds as big and punches as hard as my multiwatt triple rectifier and as hard as my old mark III red strip with the ++ mod. It absolutely hits harder than I could ever make my mark v but I'm always so curious about...

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

Yeah I don't really want to run anything besides the 12ax7's in it either. For me this does not have the ice pick highs that was there in the V, the high end is way more musical and I really enjoy the aggression of the IIc mode set like this but felt like just taming a slight bit of the highs...

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

Has anyone had luck rolling preamp tubes in the Mark VII yet? I am looking for a little less highs and maybe some more punch. I have been playing around with some extreme settings on it for metal and found some good settings. Following the older mark settings of high treble, high gain and high...

MK V90 vs MKVII Master Controls

If the dual gang pot was split into two separate pots how do you feel this affect the amp? It seems like an odd design, but if it was worth splitting using a concentric pot like on the 5150 III 50 watt models would make this a possibility without drilling any holes etc

MK V90 vs MKVII Master Controls

Sounds like a bad sound guy? Most of them can deal with an amp at a reasonable volume. The only times that I found a sound guy that could not was when they honestly didn't know what they where doing. I'm editing this post to say, I believe this is probably genre dependent. Most hard rock/metal...

    Mark VII - Silent Practicing

From what I understand you can run the mark VII without a speaker load due to the cab clone+. I've done this for recording in a pinch. It should be safe

MK V90 vs MKVII Master Controls

Never really understood the need for a global master volume. Why not just set your primary channel to your desired volume then set the rest of the channels to match the actual volume of that channel. Also as far as a solo boost a TC electronics spark mini in the loop is perfect and totally...

Two different amps at the same price: TC100 vs Mark VII

Your experience is very close to mine. I have several Marshall style amps, a multiwatt triple rectifier (have owned several other rectos over the years) and now a mark VII. My past experience with marks has been with a V, and then a mark III red stripe that I had Mike B do the ++ mod to. I...

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

Depends on what you want to do with it. I have dialed it in for a heavy hard rock/metal tone similar to a slo style. Basically run the gain at 2-3 o'clock, presence around 2 o'clock, treble mid and bass to taste and hit it hard with a Tube screamer to cut some of the lows back out. Works great...

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

so I've been messing with the settings a good bit on my mark Vii. Does it seem that the presence knob greatly impacts volume and gain? I've found it really interesting how it interacts with the amp and impacts the tone in a way that most presence controls do not.

    Mark VII?

I have owned a V and a III red strip that had the + mod from Mesa Boogie and the VII to me at least is better than both of those, and significantly better than the V. To me the V was good at many things but really failed to be great at anything. To me the VII delivers on all aspects and has been...

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

i have a VII and have much preferred it over the V and honestly my mark III+ red stripe. I did swap out several of the preamp tubes for square foil getter 12ax7b's through and that made a large impact. I'm following, looking to swap power tubes as well!

Thinking of sending my 2 channel Recto to mesa... Thoughts

There is no question that the transformer plays a part in the tone/feel of the earlier revisions but I believe their total impact to that sound has been exaggerated some. I think you are hitting the nail on the head though by saying their timbre would be the same/similar but the feel would be...
