what are yout channel volumes set at? I used to get that sound when turning the channel volumes too loud. Ive had this problem before. I went away after I changed the tubes. duh!. :roll:

I like stock mesa 6l6 with bias switch set to el34. or el34 tubes. I cant really decide they both sound great. get both :lol:

the diodes and spongy change the feel of the amp not so much the sound. imagine your amp responding slower to your pick attack for rhythm keep it bold, and diodes the master on each channel is there to balance the volume on the channels so they are the same when you switch between them output...

The el 34 setting is "pretty much" the correct bias for 6l6 tubes. Bob at eurotubes seems to think so too (thats where I got the idea from). Ive been doing it this way for a few months on my Solo 50 and its fine.
