I have a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier amp head which I believe is from the mid to late 90's. Just wondering if there's any way to tell when it was made?

I heard that it has something to do with the serial number?

any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

thanks for the link but it doesn't say how to identify the year out of it so i think i'm gonna look on the Mesa site to see if I can shoot them an email about it.

Pull the chassis and find the final tech date. you wont hear from Mesa unil Tuesday, or not at all.

Just dont touch the big blue caps.
um, i barely know what the chasis is

I appreciate the advice but I definitly would not feel confident taking anything out. Even when i get new tubes i always take it to a tech. It would be kewl to know how to do a lot of that stuff myself, maybe thats something i can work on in the future.

For now, I tell ya what- this message board is the best! :D In the few days I have been using it, I have learned so much, so keep the posts coming people, I really appreciate it.

Hopefully mesa will get back to me within the next week, i'm not in a huge rush but very curious as to when the amp was made. I have a hunch it was 95 cuz that number is in there and I think i bought used from the original owner then...

No problem.

To remove the chassis, look at the bottom of your amp for the 4 screws that hold you amp to the cabinet. Unscrew them and pull the amp out of the back by lifting and pulling the trasformers. Slide it out an flip it over and BAM !!! Production date and amp porn heaven. :D

WOW, just looked over yer gear list!..holy shiznit, YOUR LIST is amp porn heaven!!!!! 80's and early 90's boogie tone is very tasty!

I think my dual rectifier is mid 90's too, and ya know what? Every other rectifier i've either tried or heard doesn't have the same organic/musical raw tone.

I'm seriously considering a Mark IV because, not only for its kick *** heavy rock tone but for its versatility as well!....if ya don't mind, tell me a little bit about some of those amps ya got, whatever you feel would add to our little discourse :D

Thats just the Mesa stuff. There was not enough room for the rest.
I would need three user names.
I am a recovering gearaholic. 8)

I would have to write a manifesto to explain how I use them all, but here is a synopsis: Check your PM because I am not sharing this with anyone else.

I have a theoretical mind, and I'm very interested in reading a manifesto about this. I think it can enlighten and expand a few avenues of tone application, and possibly initiate the unitiated to think about the subtleties, of which we are so uniquely obsessed with.

Boogiebabies, what do ya think?...I think we should let him in....I would be very interested in hearing what he has to say...

very well written

Yeah! Id like to hear about the Manifesto--

Sorry. :(

The use of the word " Manifesto" is a joke. I use it in reference to long winded chronicles where you can only get one paragraph in before you’re mentally disassociated. Thank Ted Kaczynski for making it another word for Jabberwocky...
