I'm looking for a mint condition (or close) and fully functional ROV or TOV combo. I think a 2x12 would be too heavy, but I'm not sure the exact difference in weight, so I'm open to either one. I know the 1x12 is a good 75 lbs in itself!

Qualifying combos should, again, be in EXCELLENT condition, include a cover, have good tubes in it (JJ's a major plus!) and casters would be a definite plus as well (due to weight)!

Hit me up if you have one available!!!!!!! I'm unloading my F-30 this weekend most likely so i'll be without an amp soon!

:D What can I say?! GAS is a biznitch... Haha. At least I'm sticking with Mesas! It's just a matter of which Mesa is best for my style of playing and budget...

I had a ROV for a while and really liked it. However, I believe they only come in a 1x12 combo, or at least new ones do. If you decide on a ROV, make sure you get a Series II easily identified by three modes in Channel 2. I think Mesa also upgraded the fx loop, but don't quote me.

Good luck...great amps!

thanks for the info! i did not know about the series II difference! You might be right about the 2x12 availability. That would be fine with me to have a 1x12 ROV, so all is well. I guess it's the TOV's that are mostly 2x12s?

They supposedly changed the footswitching circuit so that there was no delay when changing channels too.

ROV - 1x12 combo, very large cab, lots of bass for a combo, 60 pounds or so, MC-90 speaker
TOV - 2x12 combo, weighs about 100 pounds, but sounds like thunder from Mt Olympus, Vintage 30 speakers

ROV - decent to sucky reverb
TOV - nice tube reverb

ROV - great cleans and distortion
TOV - same, but has the Blues setting on the Red channel, which is really loud, but freaking sweet

I've had both amps, well, my TOV was a head, but....

They are both really great amps and nowhere near as complicated as your Roadster was.

Thanks for the info Monsta-Tone! Sounds like a ROV is the way to go given the weight...

Guy is coming tomorrow to pick up the F-30 so i'm in need of an amp!

No worries, I'm always glad to help out.

I've been thinking about picking up an ROV and replacing the reverb with tube reverb. Also maybe replacing the Raw setting with a Blues setting.

Is all that possible?

I found an '06 ROV combo in MINT condition with all papers, sales receipt, warranty, and everything for $1000 and I have to drive 3 hours to pick it up. Is this a good deal?

I've seen them go for anywhere between $700 to $1,200.

The fact that you can drive there makes a bit of difference. It sucks to buy a broken piece of crap on ebay.

Here are some completed ones on ebay.

Thanks for the links! Looks like $850 is about the cheapest they tend to go for in any condition. The one I'm looking at is dead mint like I said and no shipping to worry about. I'm thinking very seriously about going for it, but i'll have to put a few hundred on a credit card to afford it until the tax stimulus comes in... I'll give it a few days and see how I feel about it then I guess...

I say make the trip, if you have the time. If all else you get a nice drive, 6 hours to catch up on some of your favorite or long lost favorite cd's. If it works out, it will be a very happy drive home.

I definitely have the time and can get the money. I think i'll sleep on it and let the seller know by Wednesday just to be sure it is the best I can do for the money...

Now, in a perfect world I'd have the seller ship the amp to Voodoo amps and have them do the standard mod on it (that adds another $295). I've heard the mod makes Rectoverbs sound incredible!! But, that's only in a dream. The stock amp is fantastic in itself so somehow i'll have to make do...

I just PMed the guy on Harmony Central and told him I'd take his amp off his hands. Hopefully he can meet me next Sunday! I sold my Keeley MT-2 in less than an hour on eBay so i took that as a sign. Haha.

I did the math and this ROV combo will be my 5th Mesa in a year - 4th actual model change though. I joined up here June 4th, 2007 and started with a Mark IV medium head, then went to a short head, then traded for a Roadster head. Then sold the Roadster and grabbed the F-30. I really hope this next amp is the last amp change I make! There's no other Mesas I am interested in... 8)

Anyway, thanks for the help fellas! I'll post pics once I get it back to the house next weekend...
