:D Dude! You're worse than I am!

What types of music will you be playing on it?
What type of distortion are you looking for?
What type of cleans are you looking for?
What volumes will you be playing at?

Also, the DC-2, & 3 were the only short chassis versions.
The 5 is a Medium chassis version.
The 10 is the long chassis.

I know, i know... It's a never ending search... :) BUT, I am 'downgrading' so to speak to be able to afford a PRS CE24... So as usual GAS is the suspect...

I play a bit of everything, but lean toward hard rock, and in rare instances I attempt some heavy metal. haha. I like a nice tight distortion with a little chunk, but not like a Mark IV tight - that felt too restricting to me (been there done that). I like the Lonestar and Fender type cleans (who doesn't), but also find the Stiletto's cleans very pleasing as well. I mostly play in my bedroom these days  so it doesn't need to be obscenely loud. I've been happy with the 'bedroom performance' of the 50 watt amps i've had so a DC-5 seems to be a good fit (6L6s are my fave - EL84s not so much which is why i'd be hesitant to go with a DC-3 unless proven otherwise)

The way I understand it is that the DC-10 is the best of the bunch, but that amp would be overkill for my needs. Whatever the model, I will be doing the volume knob mod as well as the series loop mod first thing when I get a DC that is for sure.

The 2 is great, but only has "Contour," and no EQ. Plus, the Contour only works on channel 2.
Stock speaker is crap.
Contour has no knob for adjustment, but sounds really good when it's on.

The 3 is much better, with the EQ.
It is perfect for most situations, but does tend to be drowned out with a Bonham style drummer. It really likes to be mic'd though!
Change the Vintage 30 to a Heritage 30, and add an EV loaded Thiele under it and it is a great amp for most gigs.

The 5 is a really good amp too, but has very little clean headroom.
I just changed my Output transformer to a Mercury Magnetics and the difference is staggering.
The amount of distortion suffered a little, but I can easily fix that.

The 10 is the best, but it will peel paint off your neighbor's walls on 1.

Other great Mesa amps that you might look at, but don't have separate EQ's for each channel, would be:
.22 Caliber + (make sure you get one with the EQ)
.50 Caliber + (EQ needed)

On an off hand note, I happen to be selling a CE-24 right now.
It's a '94, with the small neck heel.
Wide Thin Neck.
HFS & Vintage Bass pickups.
5-way switch.
Flamed Maple top.
All original, with case.
It does have quite a few dings in the finish, but the frets are really nice.
It belongs to a friend and he wants $950 + shipping.

I'm thinking of selling my DC-3 1x12 combo any interest?

After reading Monsta-Tone's reply I am definitely interested in a DC-3... Check your PMs, frets70!

Monsta-Tone: I may be interested in the CE... Email me pics to adam (at) itdec (dot) com

I have a .50cal+ for sale.

Different than the DC, but I think mesa put them in the same family of amps.

Details here:

SOLD: Thanks Adam/MusicManJP6!

I can post pics when I get home today.

edit: It's a short head and comes with a footswitch.

edit: Here are pics. With camera flash on, with camera flash off, foot switch. As you can see, the face edge of the left side has some scuffing, but it doesn't go through the tolex.

Is that an LED right beside the Master volume? My combo doesn't have that.

On the other hand I may have a CE-24 for sale...

Ah, man... Don't tell me that! I'd be divorced if I bought it after this purchase!

Payment has been sent for the DC-3. Thanks, Will, and everyone else who made me offers!

LOL, that's funny Monsta.

It is a great deal, and it's great to keep it in the family. Thanks Adam.

I didn't need the money as much as I needed the space. I ordered my second Axe-Fx this morning!
