Hard to say how much I'd pay. It's hard for me to dish out $2k and not see pics of the back and inside the amp. No serial numbers.

It looks like an older MKIV taken from an old combo and thrown in a nice shell with a 212 cab to match.

I'm curious to know how much it cost to have that custom shell and cab made.

You have X Ray vision...as I don't know how you could tell all of that from the pics provided....

....plus he does say on the auction it is a 2007 Mark IV.

You guys are ridiculous liow ballers to think even the head alone would only be worth $1200, let alone with the matching cab (leather croc, at an additional $500 per....option).

The true question is... Skeptical? Yes.

I'm not one who has enough disposable income to just throw out $2k and hope it's exactly what he says it is.

The pictures that he provided doesn't 'feel' to me like it's a newer head. That is one of the deals that I would walk away from... because something 'feels' fishy to me.

Then again, I'm not some rich yuppie who was born with a silver spoon in my mouth and buy whatever. And have mommy and daddy back me if I get burnt.

Do I have x-ray vision? No.
Do I have intuition? Yes.

Would a serial number and some pictures of the back of the head put me at ease enough to buy...? A very good possibility.

It'd be so easy to buy a cheap beat up combo and throw the chassis in a bling bling head shell... to make some serious cash.

And playing the odds that most eBay shoppers are some rich kid who doesn't give a **** anyhow... it's just an amp to go with his $3000 Axe for bragging rights.

I'm glad I'm not one of those people.

If it is newer (and there's nothing in the pics that suggests it is or isn't) that's a $3200+ new amp and cab with those custom options. Even if it's older (once again nothing suggesting it is at all, IMO there's no such thing as intuition over internet pics, just suspicion and paranoia, which isn't a bad thing) it would still be "worth" what it went for, seeing as how high completely stock mk IV's go for on the bay. If I had the cash and was in the market for that style mark IV- I would of paid what it went for (newer or older).

Agreed. According to the ad he custom ordered it from Mesa 2 months ago. Even if he was lying ( no reason to believe that I can see off hand ), that looks like Mesa's croc covering. Given the prices from Mesa on custom shells, even an old Mark IV in a new Mesa shell is probably worth close to the price paid, and that doesn't include the custom covered Lonestar cab.

Even in the worst case scenario, figuring that an old Mark IV head and Lonestar cab would be in the 1500-1800 range, that still looks like a good deal.

However, that looks legit to me as custom ordered Mesa product, in which case somebody got a 99% new Mark IV in an expensive custom covering with a custom covered Lonestar cab for basically the same price as a new
standard Mark IV head.

You sure are making alot of presumptions about the buyer based soley on the fact that he is apparently willing to spend more than you on an amplifier.

You guys are taking me too literal. I don't know this guy from Poindexter Peaknuckle.

I looked at his feedback, he obviously has enough disposable income to purchase the MKIV blindly. Based on his recent ebay purchases.... $1300 microphone, $3700 guitar, and another $2000 guitar... all just within the recent months.

The facts remain the same. I don't have disposable income like other people. I'm a bit more careful as to who I'll hand over my hard earned cash... that's all.

It's as simple as that, really.

Russian Roulette anyone?

EDIT: By the way, I didn't vote in this thread. But based on the info and pictures supplied, feedback of the seller... etc...

I'd only give $900 - $1000 for the head and $350 - $400 for the cab.

Total: $1250 - $1400 for all of it.

Am I a low baller? No, I'm careful. No pics, no serial number, no history on the amp, paperwork, detailed information... means I won't pay a lot for something that I cant see, touch, or play.

Agreed. According to the ad

See this is where I am different from all the people with disposable money. I need more reassurance than "According to the ad" to go thow my hard earn cash to some dude across the country sitting behind a computer.

I wouldn't argue with that, but that can usually be dealt with by emailing or calling the seller on the phone. If you still don't feel comfortable after all that, or you can't get contact with the seller, or you just don't feel comfortable giving a stranger that much money, don't buy. A friend of mine got ripped off for $750 on a guitar on ebay, so prudence is certainly not unwarranted.

Most people that have "dispposable money" didn't get it by throwing it away randomly either.

Strong analysis. However, I wouldn't know.

Maybe spending money smart from not bidding on just anything that a low feedback, new seller, 'claims' without pictures and proof, then I too will have disposable money someday.

I'm not debating that he will not send the item(s). My concern was simply, I'm not as trusting to just send any Joe Schmoe behind a computer 'claiming' the item is this and that without solid proof.

Worse case scenario (for the sake that is a frankenstein, hacked up, abused, or dysfunctional amplifier, I'd only pay the very minimum... to ensure that if it does require a retube or anything.... I'm not on the losing end.

Bling-Bling headshell doesn't impress me much as well cared for equipment. I'm a guitar player, not into amp porn -lol. And certainly don't care for the bragging rights to own such bling-bling equipment.

His equipment 'looks' GREAT! However, being GREAT is more important to me.

I wouldn't give more than $1400 sight on scene. If it was a respectable local, then $2k is a great price!

+1

Plus logic dictates that if you were a potential buyer:

1. You would ask for additional pics of the amp cab -- detailing those areas of interest.

2. Ask for the serial number and verify it with Mesa

3. The Head and Cab (even if the chasis is used) is well worth the price it went for.

the only thing i find a little sketchy is that this listing (from seller "x2cbake" in Canton, NY) says:

"For any questions please e-mail me now:[email protected]"

i searched that email address on google and there are at least two other ebay sellers who utilize the same address in their listings:

leah0800 in fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, United Kingdom

dawnys69 in bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, United Kingdom

just struck me as a little strange... maybe it's part of an ebay business or something?

not just strange , i would say thats straight up f-ing weird.
anyone else smell a scam? hopefully not the case.

Account and e-mail Hijacking occurs everyday on eBay......you definitely have to cover all of your bases before sending payment to anyone, regardless of feedback rating.......again the account could have been hijacked.

I saw that same head & cab (exact same same pics) a month or two ago.

I can't remember the seller or location, but im pretty sure it was different to the one in this particular auction. I couldnt swear on it, but I think it was a European seller.
