Would Boogie ad an EQ to my vintage Mark IIC?

They can do it, for about $400 or so, plus they probably don't have any more face plates with the slots to accommodate the sliders. so if you send it in for the GEQ and a "+" upgrade you could be looking at a cost of $1000 not including shipping. $400 each for the GEQ and "+" upgrade and $200 for general service that they like to do if they mod an amp for you, which is worth it if you do send it to them. You really need to contact mike b. and see if he can dig up a new face plate for you. If you don't want the "+" subtract $400, so maybe $600 or so. he may try to talk yo out of it and suggest an EQ in the loop

Freefall called Mike not too long ago and he said they were out of IIC faceplates and that all were left were IIB's (the III's ran out last year or year before last if memory serves me right, I think Victor bought one of the last ones...) so if you got the GEQ mod, you would be stuck with a mismatched faceplate, keep that in mind.

Well, GM won't reproduce any of the parts for my wife's Grand National Regal, so I doubt MESA is worried about the couple of hundred faceplates that they might sell, in the next 30 years or so. :wink:gonzo said:
Yep, Mike B. said only IIBs w/eq left... and they're from upgraded IIB->IIC, so they're not in new condition. He was able to find one in good shape for me (I decided to add the EQ to my IIC+, for me the added functionality was worth a few missing labels on the faceplate). I should have my amp back any day now... I asked Mike B. to return my old IIC+ faceplate with the amp.SonicProvocateur said:

Plus which, I doubt Mesa actually fabricated them. It would seem that type of tooling is a large capital investment for what was a relatively small/boutique amp manufacturer when it can be outsourced to a firm that stamps and prints steel metal. But I could be mistaken...JOEY B. said:

I'm going to go that route because this amp is too minty to mess with like that. They also told me that they don't do the faceplates anymore so immediately I decided not to do it.
In the meantime I sniper modded my GE-7 to get me through, which worked surprisingly well. It wasn't too noisy to begin with but it definitely tightened up after I modded it. Relatively easy mod, btw...
I'm teetering on the edge of selling, however. Its almost too minty for me to ruin. I almost want to sell it and go back to a Mark IV setup. So now, either talk me into or out of this choice!

Its a 60W combo w/reverb. Versatility isn't really the problem here. I had limited use for Rhythm 2 on the MKIV in my band and I really only used the triode/pentode switch, rarely the class A/simulclass switch, however I did actually flip flop on the harmonics switch. Plus, when I dial up my metal rhythm sound the resulting clean sound on the MKIIC+ is just dandy. Its mostly that I'm not a collector and this thing is pristine. Its going to get scuffed sooner or later and it will hurt REALLY bad.
