OK, you either know what I mean or you dont.

Andy Timmons has that amazing on the edge between overdrive and distortion that he coaxes out of his Lonestar using a BB Preamp.

Can you do this with the Roadsters clean channel or does this require some mode that only the Lonestar has? If it helps, I'm pretty sure he is using "Fat" mode (I think) on his LEAD CHANNEL.

He engages the thick mode on his Lone Star. If you are talking about getting his Lone Star clean tones, then the Roadster clean is fairly similar. If you are talking about his lead tone on channel 2, then I would say they are fairly different...

Thanks!

That is exactly what I was asking.

So the cleans are the same (same or close??? The some folks claim the Roadster cleans ARE a Lonestar. Is that true???) but the Lonestar lead channel is not available on the Roadster?

Correct. Mesa basically ripped out the Lonestars Ch1 preamp, tweaked it a bit (for some of the different modes), and put it in the Roadster. You might be able to get reasonably close to the Lonestars lead on Ch1 Tweed.. and you can then use Ch2 Clean/Fat for clean sounds.

I can't remember the specifics, as it's been a while since I've played a Lone Star Classic, but I would say the cleans are very close, if not the same...

i would say channel 1 on fat with a nice single coil could get you close he uses a BB preamp to get a nice dirty clean and thats a big part of his sound plus i think he uses pretty moderate/low output pickups.
