Why does Mesa make a Roadster combo with only one V30 speaker?
do they expect you to only use it in 50watt mode?
do they expect that you'll buy a 1x12 Roadster cab with one V30 to make it 2 speakers total for a mini stack?

Would you buy a 1x12 V30 cab for your Roadster?

Will one V30 handle all the Roadster can dish out?

It's all about 2 things: Speaker sensitivity and the fact that the amp itself is using very little of its available watts, even under band volume conditions.

It's assumed that the amp won't be turned up fully - because it has a clean channel. To keep the clean channel really clean, the average power level on that channel must be under about half the maximum power of the amp, or it will clip on the note attack. Even if the overdriven sounds are set slightly louder for soloing, they're inherently more compressed so the peaks are unlikely to go much higher. They're also probably expecting that you'll use it in full power mode for clean and half power for overdrive.

So it's probably fairly safe. Celestions are also pretty tough and conservatively rated, you can generally push them with a fully overdriven amp of up to the speaker's rated power and not blow them. I still don't like it though - a C90 would be a much better choice IMO.
