Crisper highs; tighter, punchier lows; I'd say a bit more articulate that the C90.TimeSignature said:How does the EV sound compared to the C90?
According to this (see second page) http://homepage.mac.com/mesaboogie/IIC/IICLit.html, the MS-12 was stock and the EVM was the upgrade. My 1983 IIC has an MS-12.>Photi G< said:The C90 was started back in 1983 with the first IIC's. It was offered as the standard speaker. However, most people opted for either the EVM12L, or the MS12. All of these were available until sometime in the 90's when EV stopped making the 12L. Later, Eminence stopped making the MS12, and what we are now left with is the C90. Still a good speaker, but it was made to be a budget option in it's heyday. Nowadays, it's regarded as the upper crust.
Hopefully sometime soon Mesa will get a deal to start putting EVM12L Reissues in their amps, now that they're back in production.
