I sent my recently acquired IIC+ to Mesa for a checkup. I didn't speak to Mike Bendinelli, but the service rep told me they replaced the 220 microfarad caps and the bias supply caps (if I remember right). He also indicated that they don't routinely replace all of the caps, even when they're all original as is the case with my amp.
I'm pretty clueless about this stuff, so my question is, are the caps I mentioned the main ones that would typically be replaced? Are there any others that might affect sound or pose reliability risk?
I'm not trying to second guess Mike B. really, since he obviously knows these amps better than anyone, but I guess I'd just like to be a bit more educated so I'm comfortable. It's taken considerable time and money to get the amp to Mesa so I really don't want to do this again, and if there's anything else that might be worth replacing for preventative reasons I think I want to contact Mike B to discuss it before they send thte amp back to me.
Can any of you tech wizards enlighten me? Thanks!
