Just picked up my first Boogie, it's a Mark 2c head from 1983. I need some suggestions on a cab for it. I already have a couple Marshall's with 75watters so something different. Anybody found the 'ultimate' match for these amps? Thanks for any help you can offer.

a lot of folks think that these little amps were made with EVM12L's in mind. All of mine are so equipped and I love 'em.
Whatever flips your switch will do though......

+1 on the EVM12L, my personal preference. They also shipped with MC12 as well, so maybe give that a go. But the 12L was Boogie's go-to speaker for years and years and years until they went out of production.

I run my Mark IIs alternatively through an EVM, an MS-12 or a C-90. EVMs will give you the most faithful reproduction of the amp...the least colored sound. EVMs are known for crisp highs and tight, punchy lows - very "Fenderish". At 200 watts, they don't break up easily. The MS-12 (also highly desireable) doesn't have quite the upper end or low punch of the EVM, but a slight mid-range bump that I really like. They are smoother than the EVMs, and add a slight "Marshall" flavor to the mix. The C-90 is a great speaker, and is somewhere in between the other two. It's a relatively neutral speaker (for a Celestion), but doesn't have the low-end punch of the EVM. It's probably the least expensive of the three.

Some run a combination of speakers, for example, a C-90 in an open back cab and an EVM in a Thiele cabinet. Many believe these two compliment each other well.

I like them all! It depends on the sound you prefer. The only way to know for sure is to hear them for yourself with your rig.

I just played my Mk2c thru my Marshall 300 watter and OMG!! You guys aren't crazy after all! thanks for your advise but I think I'll just use my Marshall cab for awhile....seriousely OMFG!!

MS12...I always think of C90 and call it MC12. Corrected.

Are the speakers in your Marshall Celestion G12T-75? (Or a variation thereof?)

Yeah it's a 4x12 with G12T-75's, it's from the early eighties as well. I play metal mostly so I tried to dial in decent sound on lead channel with o/d cranked, tried pull shifts etc. but could not get it, I was rather disappointed but moved on to find a good clean sound on rhythm channel, that didn't take long, sounds awesome, next thing I click back to lead channel(o/d still on 10) and there it is!! I'm too scared to touch anything cause I don't wanna change anything I gotta figure out what all the damn buttons do on this thing!!! Do you think that's pushing it too hard all the time? I'll probably go through tubes pretty fast but I can't really damage anything can I?

When you say "o/d still on 10", do you mean the Lead Drive on 10, and is that what you refer to as "pushing it too hard"? If so, don't worry about the tubes. The Lead Drive is a preamp tube control, and this should not shorten the tubes life much at all. Cranking the Master will shorten the life of the power tubes, but that's a small price to pay for sonic bliss!

Yeah that's what I meant(lead drive in 10) thanks for your response.

A IIC+ through a Marshall 4x12 with the G12T-75s should be giving some serious tone. That's the same set up I use with my Mark III and the tone is big, tight and crunchy..moving some serious air. I took my casters off to get more bottom which I think is key to getting that bigger sound that alot of folks overlook. But again, that's what I like.

All the Best,
~Nep~
