Where to buy Mesa Boogie Tubes in the UK?

Hi,

I have been hunting around on the net for somewhere to buy official Mesa Boogie tubes. I've tried out various different sets of alternative tubes and would like to put back in a set of Mesa Boogie tubes, just to remind myself of what the amp originally sounded like. I sold my original set and don't have them available any more. I'm using the LoneStar Special. The pre-amp tubes are pretty easy to get hold of, but the power-amp and rectifier tubes are proving more of a challenge. If someone could point out some UK-based websites that sell them, then that would really help me out.

Chap buy em from the US, even with import tax they will still be cheaper....for example a 12ax7 is £8.50 stateside whereas you will pay £18.00 in the uk!!!

And if you know someone in the us get them to send em to you as a gift and you wont have to pay TAX!! Hurrah

Stringsdirect are good, as are Hotrox, Watford valves don't sell them btw although they have a good cross ref section, you could always try evilbay too. The 5Y3 rectifier isn't part of the tone circuit so doesn't matter if it's a different brand.

Thanks all for the replies.

I'm a regular at Stringsdirect - I'm really lucky in that they're only 2 miles away from my house, so I get to browse through the goodies. Last time I was in they hadn't got any of the EL084's, nor a slot for it on their website. Fortunately, they're up they're now so will grab a set. Still can't find anyone that sells the proper Boogie Rectifier valve though. Although I do remember reading that they can be particularly unreliable - blowing without warning and the like. I think I've got a Sovtek from Watford valves in there at the mo. If it doesn't affect the tone, then won't bother looking further for one.
