What tube are you using for V2???

So....
I have mostly NOS tubes in my Express. It sounds freakishly good!
The lead channel, in Burn mode, still has a very loud hiss. I tried about 6 different tubes here and the hiss gets better, but never gets quiet enough to my tastes.

I don't want to use a lower gain tube. I really like the Burn mode.

Gain is between 12:00 and 2:00.


I tried NOS Phillips (still in there), RCA, & Mullard as well as JJ, EH, Mesa Russian II, and a Sovtek LPS.
None of them sound as good as the Phillips!


When I remove V2 all of the hiss goes away!

Are there any low noise AX7 tubes that sound good?

I am using a High Gain JJ ECC83 (part of a Doug's Tube kit). After putting in the new set of tubes, the hiss is drastically reduced. It used to be so noisy I rarely used the second channel.

Tung Sol 12AU7 in V2 and V3.

Tried it today at practice! Much less noise than the original tubes had. It was actually quite manageable.
