Just purchased a Mark V combo and wanted to get it polished up but didn't want to use something that would damage the wood or the finish. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

NO PLEDGE...if the wood has a clear ploly coat or laquer finish a simple mild polishing compound will work just fine..
dont over do it..call mesa to see what they finish the wood with...

Mesa finishes their hardwood cabs with hand rubbed tung oil. No Pledge or other wax with silicone should be used You can contact Mesa for the brand of paste wax they use as the final step. Perhaps Johnson's Paste Wax would be OK.

If the cabinet is dirty, you could use a damp cloth or perhaps some Murphy's Oil Soap first. If the finish itself has been worn, you can apply a thin coat or so to the wood and rub out with 0000 steel wool or a 0000 sanding block. Again, ask Boogie and look up tung oil finishes on the web. The ability to repair the finish is an advantage of tung oil.

I believe Boogie uses Trewax. http://trewax.beaumontproducts.com/floor-care/trewax-paste-wax

Care of Hardwood Cabinet:

The hardwood cabinet should not be exposed to direct sunlight, excessive heat, excessive cold, or dampness over long periods of time.

The hardwood cabinet should be treated as a piece of fine furniture, and with routine maintenance, it should last indefinitely.

Maintenance of Hardwood Cabinet:

Routine maintenance should be performed on the cabinet depending on the various elements the amplifier is exposed to.

If the cabinet becomes dirty, lemon oil should be used to clean the surface.

If dirt does not remove easily, try using 0000 steel wool with the lemon oil. This process should be followed by applying a coat of wax to the cabinet.

When cabinet finish begins to dull, it is time to apply another coat of wax. The wax finish on this cabinet acts just like the wax finish on a car, it protects the cabinet from the elements of nature.

Recommended cabinet wax is TREWAX; this wax is a clear paste wax that we believe provides the best protection and finish for your cabinet. If you cannot find TREWAX at your local hardware store, consult your local hardware store on another high quality clear paste wax, or write to:

TREWAX COMPANY
SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA 90670
U.S.A

A proper wax finish can be achieved by following the manufacturer’s directions on back of the container.

If you have any questions about your hardwood cabinet, please contact Mesa/Boogie and we will be happy to assist you
