yeah it would probally cost a bit but can my IIc be be put into another head with a different finish when i send it back for an upgrade? like one of the finishes you can get with the current boogies when you order new..
can i get a larger head ?
what else can i get done...
when i send my IIc back in to get the upgrade to c+ im just getting the upgrade and maybe eq...but i doubt the eq...as i already have a band.
i dont need reverb ..have it...its a 60/100 so no simul ...

yeah i know everything costs money..

i guess the question is what limitations does mesa have as far as upgrades besides the standard IIc to + upgrade , reverb,eq,etc....

thanks

If you find out about additional mods and options, let me know! I also have a IIC 60/100 that I'm considering upgrading to C+. I just got the amp, so I'm spending some time getting to know its current sound before getting it modded. I'm a bit of an amp tweaker, so I've already got a list of changes that I would consider doing myself if it weren't such an expensive amp. I figured that Mike Bendinelli might be willing to do them for me, if he agreed that it's a good idea.

One thought I had was to see if the mid pot could be swapped for a pull-able version. When pulled, I'd like it to swap a couple circuit components that affect the sound of the clean channel. In the week that I've had the IIC, I feel that the clean channel lacks that certain very-high-Treble sparkle that good Fender amps have (like my re-issue Deluxe Reverb). I think that I've found the part of the circuit that is causing the difference. An added DPDT pull pot or toggle switch could either directly swap the offending components, or it could remotely trigger LDRs to do the same. Hmm, the toggle switch isn't a bad idea. That switch could be installed in place of the slave-out jack. Nah, I'd like the ability to switch the setting via the front panel...a push-pull mid pot is the way to go.

Anyway, as you can see, like you, my brain has been thinking about mods beyond just the IIC->IIC+ upgrade. MikeB is quite the tech (clearly) and can probably do anything you want. It would be really cool, though, if he already had a menu of mods that you could pick-and-choose from. That would be sweet.

Let me know what you find out!

Same here, just got a IIC and considering to have it upgraded to +.
The only thing I want is to get mine a EQ + the regular + upgrade whatever it is.
Come to think of it,what do you get to have your II bump to +.
Mine is a HR series,meaning 100/60 w/Reverb no EQ.
And what is the cost of the upgrade.
I know some pep here done this already maybe please tell me the cost of upgrading and
how long is the wait. It's true I can call MESA but knowing ahead is better.

You'd need a whole new chassis or at least faceplate for the EQ upgrade, and I don't think they have them at the factory any longer.

You'll need a new faceplate. Unfortunately, Mesa does not have IIC faceplates, so they'll put a Mark III faceplate and black-out the "Rhyth 2" designation over the Mid pull knob.

This assumes they still have Mark III faces. They did when I was considering upgrading my IIC in early 2008, which I wound up not doing. Bought a C+ instead. :D

Here's the direct line to the Mesa Boogie factory!

1-707-778-6565

if you call that number and everything should be answered by them.

Why does no one understand that they leave messages on forums because they would rather have their answered not given to them by mesa boogie themselves. We can all find the number ourselves...

I believe it is a sincere recommendation that GIG4FUN believes will answer his questions. Things @ Mesa are in a constant state of flux and things like particular amplifier models, part numbers, parts, prices and SERVICES are here today, gone tommorrow.
From what I've seen, things change rapidly at that place. I've called to order parts, ask questions and get advice and had to hold while Chris tracked down the latest part number, answers and up-to-date advice. I don't believe it's because he's stupid and can't remember something from one day to the next,it's because he knows things could be different and he wants to get the correct information for you.
I happened to mention that I would have liked to have a new Imbuya Boogie combo cabinet but since Mesa's website stated that they were out of Imbuya and it had been discontinued it looked like I had missed the boat. Chris asked me to hold while he checked something and came back to tell me that they had enough Imbuya to build me a cab! I ordered it and it came last week, awesome service at the very least!
Anyway, while this forum is certainly a convenient way to exchange ideas and get information, with questions concerning what, when, how much and how long it takes to turn a IIC into a IIC+ who better to advise you that the folks you will turn to to do it?

btw, in the past mike b generally tells people that the geq upgrade isn't worth it unless you have money to burn. AFAIK people have been quoted over $400 for it. On top of the C+ mod pretty soon you will get to where you could have just sold your IIC, because they're fairly sought-after too, and bought a loaded IIC+.

Besides the big C+ mod Mesa can still do a lot of tweaks if you have really specific ideas about what you want. However, I bet Monsta-Tone could probably do most of them too, for cheaper, and with more back-and forth to make sure you get what you want.

i just got off the phone with Mike at Boogie. We Talked for about a half hour about some options.
for me it boils down to $350 for the upgrade and about $125 and up for any replacement caps, etc in the cleanup ....
im not really interested in the eq atm.

He's fun to talk with, great sense of humor and no-one can tell you more about what we love :) to talk about.

Did he discuss the GEQ possibilty as far as if it can still be done (faceplate) and how he'd do it and how much?

I'm glad you called and hope time goes fast for you!

yeah we talked about the faceplates...hes running out of III's .
i think 150 for the eq is what he said . we talked for about 1/2 hr or a little more and talked about so many things.
