What does the A mean

My bros Mark III has a capital A before the serial number. What does this mean?

It has a sideways A then A22XXX. it is a blue stripe combo EV came with Blue Labeled STR 416's and STR 416's

Never seen or heard about an A stamped before a Mark III serial number, so what does this refer to?

Normally A means it's a Mark I... But I'm guessing you already knew that.

I heard that, when MESA found out they had marked two different amplifiers with the same number by mistake, they used a letter "A" and a letter "B" to differentiate them.

Yes, it looks as if they found out they had stamped 2 amps with the same number and add an A on omne of them and a B on the other one.

You could call Mike Bendinelli or any other sales at Mesa and ask for the proper explanation.
