Hi

Well it gets louder ofcause, but my IIc+ Simual`s class current residence dont alow me playing it louder then lead master on 1 and master on 3, Volume is on 9.5, in lead mode ofcause.

I have noticed that the more i turn down the master, the more brittel it gest and the gain is less saturated, less balls.

What is the Vol where it really gets to the sweet spot ?, im trying to record and need to know if all im doing is in vain because it needs to be much louder ?

Rest of my settings are vol 9.5, treble 7.75, bass 1.75,middel 0,master vol 3 , gain 6.5,lead master 1, precence 3, eq in the classic v shape.

Thanks

The sweet spot varies depending on what sort of sound you're going for. If it's super saturated distortion turning it up will be the only option. On the Mark IV and FIVE I own, i've found it's best to tweak by ear for the situation. You can definetly tell when you're getting into the power band, and when you do.. it's wise to go back and tweak your tone and gain settings because it will alter the balance of both. I don't have a IIC+ so I can't help any further. Good luck.

Yes that is also what i feared, i did read IIC manuel and it also gave a good explanation why different settings work better for some vol settings then others.

Now im not after the Metallica sound , but like my amp set up pretty much like them except i dont use enything in the Loop.

I read the nots for Dyers eve "Heavy guitars" that goes on verse only wich is the best mettica sound i have heard, and noticed that lead master was on 5 and master on 6, that is brutal loud.

I have seen Marshall have somthing the call a Power Break, wich works great with marshall heads becuase the tend to sound alot better cranked(wich means louder then satan), but have never tryed on.

Enyone tryed somthing similar ?

you're just talking about the most basic element of playing a tube amp here!

LOL

seriously, do a little homework (searching) on preamp distortion, tube output distortion, transformer saturation, etc....

an attenuator (like the WEBER MASS LITE) will allow you to push the amp harder, but control the overall volume.

even a 5 watt amp, driven hard, will be too loud to play in the house.

these amps were not designed to be 'bedroom' amps, but they can be used that way very easily,if you are willing to change your settings to suit.

Thanks for the Heads up

You are right i dont know much about Tube amps, i have been away from Eletric guitars for 10 years i back them i wassent obssest with sound .

I think il Looking for somthing that will let me run it at a louder setting while i have my amp in my apartmenet/studio.

Thanks

The Mark IV and Mark V are much better at low volume than a Mark I, II or III. Both of those amps have power reduction options and indvidual channel masters that really help when you have to keep the volume down.

Master Volume at 5 and Lead Master at 1-1.5. It's totally thicker amp with these settings.
Just don't switch to the clean channel. If you cannot live with the trade off, do what most of us
have and buy a second IIC+.

Hi

Well i tempted fate today, i cranked the lead master to 2.2 and master vol to 4, long story but i need a new place to set it up.
I clean mode it sounds just fine at lower settings , but with the lead Cranked settings it turns my playing into a adrenaline rush, blows my mind that a amp that is from 83 sounds can and still sounds so angry, love it.

:)

My naboers proberly think its 10 times to crank at wich only makes me wanna really crank even more

I constantly feel the erge to really Crank this puppy and blow the walls down and scream rock & role while im headbanging , but then il proberly get evicted at the spot ,

Got turned onto this by a studio engineer out of Nashville a while back and finally got one about a week ago. Wow. Pure bliss. He usually sells them on Ebay for a little cheaper than direct from the site. thetubecube.com
