So i gotta buddy who claims that his mark V is missing a resistor and it supposedly sounds better than other mark Vs.
We have played it against other mark Vs and it sounds the same to me. My question is, Is it possible for an amp to go through inspection and for mesa to have missed something as important as a resistor. And if it wasnt there would it make a difference in the tone?

Anything is possible. Mesa is human, therefore they will make mistakes.

Whether or not it's true, if he thinks his sounds better than other Mark Vs then all the more power to him.

Next he's going to ask you if you want to buy it! Whenever you have as many options in an amp you have differences of opinion. I have a friend that swears I have got a magic Mark IV. I agree that it sounds great and it's possible, but just as likely it's in the tweaking.

I just dont understand his logic...why would a product thats meant to be consistent with the rest of the products be any different?

Or the playing.

Could be that too. You know how it is when you bust out some great guitar playing, it just makes other people want to grab the guitar out of your hands and start jamming!
