Voodoo modded Dual Recto?

Had it...it sounds good, but I wasn't blown away...too processed IMO...too refined to capture the raw essence that is a rectifier.

If you don't want the rectifier sound, don't get a rectifier. There are other high gain heads that can get the modded rectifier sound for much cheaper IMO. On the other hand, there is no other amp that can get the recto sound...something to keep in mind.

I have had one, sold it to my friend who is selling it now, so if your friend would like to dave some money let me know. But anyway here is my take on it. The voodoo guy was an 80's metal guy, so he makes the recto's tighter and more capable of doing that style of music. Still has the recto tone, but it is not the recto in its raw tone.

Times change as do players tastes. Over time the needs and wants of players evolve and our Mods are updated to accommodate. When the Rectifiers first came out everyone wanted us to dial them back and tighten them up a lot. These days players want more gain but want to hear the notes within the chords while also having lots of sustain and a smoother/easier to play feel. If you are familiar with Rammstein's music Richard has five (5) Platinum Modded 2-channel Rectifiers.

Based on what you are describing it sounds like it was an earlier version of our Mod. If your friend or anyone else who is reading this would like to have the Mod updated we are certainly more than happy to do so.

Have a great holiday season and a very Merry Christmas!

Hey Trace,

Not putting down your MOD at all, it actually does sound great, just wasnt my thing as I am more of a rythem player and love the natural sound of a dual rec. I am not sure how old the MOD was, but I am thinking about 2005 or 2007, hell I have to find the paperwork, I know I have it. If i sent you the order number could you tell me how it was voiced?

My friend does love the amp, he just cant afford it, actually still owes me $800 on it and that is why he is selling.

But for people wanting a more verstile REC trace can defintly do wonders for you.

No worries at all my friend and I know we cannot be all things to all players. I just wanted to let others know who were reading but not posting that we have made updates to the Mods based on players needs and wants. Again as the times change we change with them.

If you have an invoice number I can access the information that way or you can go to Voodoo Verify, plug in the serial number and it will pull up the work records. Voodoo Verify was the first online searchable database for Mods. It was developed so that others purchasing a Voodoo Modded unit could verify that it we did in fact do the work (IE: we had a problem with eBay'ers putting fake stickers on units). We also upload effect pedals we have Modded as well as repairs, retorations/refurbs, etc.

I completely understand and while the economy is bouncing back it still isn't back to where it was yet.

Thank you for the kind words my friend and I hope you have a VERY Merry Christmas! Hopefully Santa can squeeze gear down the chimney! ;)

Hey Trace: what can you do for a Shiva?

There are different versions/revisions and we have worked on all of them several times. On Bogners we tend to approach it as a Custom Mod as playes tend to ask for different things all depending on their needs. On the earlier models most want a smoother/easier to play feel with a little bit more gain while retaining the Shiva tone. The earlier models have high plate voltages throughout the amp resulting in a stiffer or harder to play feel. The revisions that followed adjusted this and they are a bit eaiser to play by comparison and also tend to have more gain. Most want the later models to have a a bit more gain as well but the common ground is that everyone wants to retain the Shiva tone. All of this can be done and more. Most Shiva Mods run between $150-$195.

Please feel free to give us a call Mon-Fri from 9AM-5PM EST (NY time) at 607-256-0465 and ask to speak with me. I would be more than happy to talk with you about your tone and how we can best meet your needs.

Happy holidays & Merry Christmas!
