Prolonged exposure at over 85db? We're all done for! I have crazy tinnitus and I have used hearing protection for much of my 'career' thus far. The craziest thing was how playing in an orchestra was killer on the right ear, with the brass and percussion on that side. The worst thing was that with earplugs in, I couldn't hear myself at all.

What? ....WHAT??!!

It's called "getting old", dude. Take your Geritol and remember back to the day when a concert only cost $7.50. There you go...now put on some pants.

:D

I'm with you, man.

My ears are damaged and I have tinnitus and it is annoying! But it does mellow out a bit after a while if I put myself through less noise exposure.

Custom made earplugs are available that are form fitted to your ears. They differ from normal foam earplugs or other similar options because they take out a equal range of the overall frequency rather than taking out all the high end. They are usually available through an ear specialist that makes other form fitting earplugs. The last time I checked they were over $100 though but well worth the investment.

I feel your pain. Orch. are very loud. I see fools everyday using jackhammers and airhammers without plugs. Guns and Hiwatts did it to me.
