My new dream amp, VHT's Deliverence! Do yourself a favor and check out the clips at www.VHT.com. Specifically, clips #4 and #5. Single channel amp, no f/x loop, clean to scream with a whirl of your guitar's volume knob! Love it!

Thought the clean and slightly overdriven tone was great, but the all out gain sound that it had, not impressed at all.

Steve makes several other high gain monsters, maybe he wanted to change it up a bit. I haven't had a chance to play one but I've heard nothing but good reviews.
Besides, it's gotta be pretty high gain if Unearth is using them.

Had one of the first, liked it but didn't love it enough to be my #1, sold it for the Ace which is the be all end all for me. The Dev really does a lot of things well, like work with your guitar's knobs, but the voicing of it is -very- unique and its EQ is unlike non-VHT amps I've used. This is neither good nor bad but it was not for me in the end.

Try before you buy, you might fall in love or be confused. I spent a couple months trying to dial it in before I gave up on getting it all the way. With the EQ that some of the other models have and/or a loop I think you'd have a great amp.

Did you buy the Deliverance cab when you got the head?
I took both the Fat Bottom and Deliverance cab thru there paces
with my 3ch. D.R. and was smiling for both.
Ened up with the Fatbottom 4x12 but did like the openess of the deliverance cab.
I went over to Cleveland to play the 120 Deliverance head a G.C store has in stock but is was out on loan to a studio. **** it.!
Tech at VHT told me that Unearth is using a Maxon808 in front of that amp on tour. So I guess I'll have to wait to try it out.

Not right away, I tried it with a variety of other cabs I had. None of them worked as well as the Deliverance cab. The P50E speakers really do match the Dev heads better than anything Celestion makes. I really like the cab, I think it even works better for the Mesa Ace than the Mesa cabs I tried as well. Its just a great cab period.

On the 808 thing, I'm personally against having to boost an amp all the time to get it to sound the way you want in 2006. This was a necessary trick in the 70's but today I think the trade off is just not worth it. Then again, if you are blasting palm muted riffs you won't miss the dynamics lost, you probably didn't even want them so its a matter of choice.

Congrats Jbird......now if you want "steallar" clips, check out the VHT forum. There is a Frenchman, that is an endorsee of VHT that just rips with youtube clips. Never heard anything out of youtube be so spot on sounding as his are...sounds exactally like the amp live.
