I want to get the VHT deliverance 60 and the matching cab but am having a hard time deciding what multieffect to run into it sinse it doesn't have an effects loop. I was thinking of the boss gt 8. Can you guys school me on anything here? im pretty ignorant. Thanks!

Well, this could get long! I find it ironic, wanting a stripped down "purist style" amp, then wanting to put a multi-effect unit in front? Now, the amp's pre-amp is said to be well suited for pedal effects, especially when in less mode (one pre-amp stage de-activated) for more quiet, sensitive operation, but I find myself playing in the more mode most often!

Now, to the effects: I'm not sure about the multi-effect set-up because of the delays and reverbs, and effects that sound better after a pre-amp, or after production! Wahs, boosts, distortions, overdrives, chorus', flangers, etc, etc, are fine in front, but unless your playing clean, the delays and verbs are better left out, and though the amp does sound great in a clean setting, it's not exactly a jangle machine, it's true calling is intense distorted tones!

It's just an amp that really shines from it's simplistic design, if effects are your thing, I might consider the same philosophy, staying with pedals, true-bypass, all analog, good cables, etc, etc! Good Luck, you'll love this amp, I do!

Yeah, that's kind of the worst use for both of those pieces of gear. jbird talked about the VHT and I'll talk about the GT-8.

I don't own a GT-8 but a jam buddy of mine does, and I don't think a lot of the GT-8's fx will sound very good in that kind of configuration. The GT-8 is more designed to be a standalone preamp. I have to admit that I'm surprised at how good my buddy's GT-8 sounds. It certainly won't replace a tube amp if you need 'real tone' but it's ridiculously versatile, even more so if you get a really good OD/distortion pedal and put it in the GT-8's fx loop.
