honestly whats so great about them? I keep hearing all about them but i haven't played one, what do people love about them so much?

They're hard to find. I want to try a couple of them, including the Pittbull. Unearth recently was endorsed by them, on their new album, and it sounds amazing. I still say from their last 2 albums, Unearth's tone is the epitome of Heavy tone. It's so brutal, and AMAZINGLY tite when considering they are using 7-strings!!!

that's so gay

I know people don't mean anything when they say this, I got into the habit myself for a short while, but you probably shouldn't.

I would say if your curious, do some research, as I did!

Listen to some of these clips at the bottom of this page, for the Deliverence: http://www.vhtamp.com

Or visit: http://www.vhtusers.com/forums/ for some other member clips!

My local GC has two Pitbulls and a Deliverence? That's in this cowbell town!

That would be the new Deliverence One-Twenty's w/Deliverence 4/12's!

check out Helmet (I've seen them live 4 times!). Hamilton used to run a Marshall 2204 pre-amp into a Mesa simul power amp. They're using VHT Pitbull now I think.

Hamilton has been using a Pitbull for a while now, while his co-guitarist is using a Deliverence!

Oh ya, then there's this!

I didn't like Unearth. They seem annoying as sh!t (I hate that fast major scale lead runs in "thrash" metal, that's so gay). I think Arch Enemy and Trivium does sh!t like that too. That victory lead boring sh!t.

Pantera and Gojira is the real deal. Hardcore.

That video's alright, but getting on stage, moving around 2 feet and trem picking one scale as fast as you can while your drummer does double bass like a machine gun doesn't really make it hardcore either. I'm way more impressed that Ken and Buzz from Unearth can do those runs, play just as fast, be more creative (with leads, harmonies, scales, actual chords......at least they emphasize the proper usage of a 2 guitars in the band) and have way more stage presence than that any given day. That's more "hardcore" to me.

I briefly looked into Rivera, that particular amp had a great clean and mean overdrive, but not much in-between? And really, I was trying to get away from channel switchers, F/X Loops, and all that tone robbing crap!

yeah somebody else on here (siggy?) slammed me for that. I've actually had a homosexual friend before (he's a professional DJ in LA) and he got used to that after a while but didn't like it at first b/c it's using the word in a deragotory sense.
...
So what are you saying? Its o-kay to be your friend whether you are gay or not, BUT once you become a professional DJ in LA, all bets are off [?]

... oh yeah, my friend had a VHT, don't remember the model but that thing sounded like a hi gain Hiwatt from the get go.

If you compare it with a Dual Rectifier, the DR had more versatility but "no messing with controls", this VHT really got the Hiwatt thing going.

Tried both the Deliverance 60 and the Pitbull. Verdict: Very tight amps. Instant attack, totally different than Recto's. They are tighter than MKIV's, but were too tight for me. The tone was awesome, darker to my ears than a Mesa. Ultimately, I still prefer my MKIV or even the Cornford MK50 for my style of music. I liked the way the countour knob allows you to adjust the overall tone, though. Seem to be built well. I haven't had an opportunity to see the guts yet. The tubes on the Pitbull were HUGE! LOL! Anyway, give em a try, they may be what you are looking for.

I played one in the studio, it was a Pitbull i think, Solid State. It had a nice distortion and souned tight, but I thought it was lifeless.

Uh, ... I gotta check out the VHT site. I was never aware they make solid state amps too. :?

I played a Pittbull UL w/EQ a couple of years ago at Drum City Guitarland here in Denver and I was very impressed by it. I'm still thinking of buying one at some point, but I wouldn't replace my Recto's.

From my brief experience with the Pittbull, I thought it was an extremely versitile, tight, and punchy amp. Headroom for days (probably because of the KT88's in that badboy) but still had a killer distortion and breakup. Definitely and amp that needs to stretch it's legs.

I'd love to get a Pittbull at some point. They are certainly not cheap amps though. Maybe someday....
