I've had this amp a couple of weeks now so I decided that I would give a couple of my pedals a try with it. Bad idea. Immediately after switching on my Keeley Katana Clean Boost my sound just fizzled out. I immediately turned the amp off, checked all of my cords, connections, fuse and so on. I turned the amp back on and now I can barely hear my guitar coming through the speaker. Does it make since that possibly the signal was boosted too much for the amp to handle and caused some type of damage? Possibly preamp tubes? I purchased this amp new. Any feed back would be appreciated as I had planned on playing out this weekend with it. This sucks

I wonder if it is possible that you blew out a preamp tube? Do you have spares?

Welcome to the forum.

I highly doubt your boost pedal damaged the amp. Most likely it is a preamp tube.

Get yourself a couple of spare 12AX7's (and fuses, and powertubes if you gig regularly), swap in a new tube into each preamp position one at a time. When your sound comes back you have found the bad tube. Be sure to power off the amp when you swap the tubes.

This is a PITA but 99% of the problems in a tube amp are tube related. My Mesa's have the best build quality out if any amp I've owned, too bad I can't say the same for most current production tubes, regardless of brand.

Is this a combo or head? With my MKV head I find it easier to tube swap with the chassis removed from the headshell.

Good luck, post any questions you may have.
