So I'm moving to one of these cities (from Montreal) to pursue a musical career (yeah yeah I know) as a studio musician as well as possibly forming a band. I would rather move to L.A. (better weather more work & opportunity) but all the visa/green card stuff is just a headache. Anyway between the two cities which one has a better scene with more work and success rate. Band wise I'm interested in Heavy Rock. I did some work in Montreal but it's very limited here with no Major Labels and I want to attempt at making a decent living at this. I know Vancouver is more expensive to live in but I don't care I'm a very hard worker and I want a place that has a more musical opportunity. so if anyone has any experiance between these two cities when it come to work as a musician or just some input, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Can't help you with the music scene but Vancouver is a great city to live and
is always rated as one of the 'most livable cities.' It is expensive but there are
tons of things to do, great food, and a nice laid back West coast vibe. However,
it rains a lot (and even snows, like today, although not too much) so you'll have
to adjust to that.

You should really visit both cities if you can (during the Winter especially).

Good luck!

TORONTO!!!

Vancouver is really lacking in the arts end of thing. Great for sports though. I was at school in Vancouver for the last two years but now I am doing DMA studies in Composition at U of T. As I understand it, there are a lot of places to play and a lot of good bands here. If you decide to come here, drop me a line and we can jam!

I would go to Vancouver...

Im in Kitchener which is an hour from Toronto, I would rather live in BC, its really nice there. Plus Justin Bieber lived in Stratford which is like half hour from where i live, so you want to stay away as far as possible. He comes to the malls around here sometimes just to get attention, damn sellout

Anyway..

It's up to you, do what you think will benefit you more
