I liked the way mine sounded, but it was difficult to read the knob settings under most lighting conditions. The voicing switches determined most of the tonal signature for each channel, and then the EQ controls were for fine tuning only. I had the one where all of those options are remote switchable, so you could spend a lot of time tweaking. I used to just set it up as a two channel amp and leave the voicings set to whatever complimented the guitar I was using at the time.

I recall someone saying that the lead channel actually uses some non-tube distortion device. Always sounded great to me with my 20/20.

Item of interest: I took the cover off mine once to change tubes, and there was a spot marked on the PCB for a reverb pan, but I don't believe Mesa ever put that feature into production.
