Loving the amp, 2c+ mode is awesome, the cleans as well. For the life of me, I cannot get the mark 1 mode in channel 2 to sound good to my ears. Its always dark and sounds low and undefined compared to all the other channels. Crunch and edge mode are great - anyone have suggestions?

I found the Mk I mode to be muffled and boomy too, until (and I have no idea why I tried this  ) I turned gain down to about 9:30 or so and cranked the channel master way up... and bam! All of a sudden there's a huge, punchy, cutting voice. Best of all, hitting "thick" made the tone bigger, but not boomier. :D This is one case where 'bedroom volume' is a no-no... louder is better...

thats just it - right now I'm playing at bedroom volumes. Are you using the sliders or preset?

I'm only using the tone controls... haven't seen a need to use graphic EQ or preset EQ knobs on channels 1 or 2!

I've been going nuts trying a bunch of different graphic EQ or preset EQ settings on channel 3... can't seem to get anything meaty on the IIc+ or IV modes.

It addresses that in the manual and gives you tips on how to reduce the boom.

True... but just using exaggerated tone control settings (treb ~ 3PM, mid & bass ~ 9AM) isn't enough. Setting the gain between 9 and 12 and using the channel master as a second gain control will get you thick yet punchy tone instead of thick and woolly.

I am fidning the mark 1 mode to be the best for really smooth leads. Especialy on a neck pick up with humbuckers...

Turn the bass off completely. Use the preset knob, turn it on just a bit. normal mode.

This coming from somebody who has yet to see a V in person, but I bet this might work :p

But y'know if it is like a Mark I, it's going to have a signature big thick syrupy sound. I hope it does :D
