Hey guys. Need a bit of advice. Im looking to get a Mesa Triaxis + 2:90 rig. Now I know the American voltage is 120V and 60hz...

in Europe we have 220V and 50hz.

Can someone tell me if I'll have trouble getting the rig to work/work smoothly over here if I buy from the States?

Many thanks! :D

You'll need a stepdown power transformer with a power rating of at least 500watts.

Have a look here for more information:

and you've never had trouble with using transformers? it doesn't alter the tone in any way? sounds great, i have read across a couple of forums that transformers do the job perfectly. I was hoping someone in here had some hands-on experience. thanks Lyn!

Well, my Tri/2:90 set-up is a 240v one as I'd rather have it like that.

I have read the odd post of people not being convinced of the tone being the same, but the majority of users don't seem to have an issue with this and I have run other 117v studio equipment (but not amplifiers or anything clock or motor-based) without any problems.

I did look into the possibility of getting a rack transformer but couldn't find anything sensibly priced.

Works fine for me. The only hassle is the extra box to carry around - but when you consider the weight of a Mesa rack, it doesn't make much difference.

I use a 500w step down for my c+ here in Denmark (EU),and sounds magical , the amp has enourgh juice to wipe out eny doubt that there is somthing wrong using a step down.

The sound is idendical as long as the step down as enourgh juice, i have been told that also from a well known guitar amp tech here in Denmark ,( wich dont like mesa boogies that much (Marshall guy)
