Yes, it is pretty cool when you consider that this mode (LD1 Yellow) was one of the first high gain circuits from back in the day. It takes a lighter touch to get the most out of it, along with riding the volume. I run the Gain at 5 and the LD1 Gain at 7.

It's a nice tone check when you go back to the lead 2 modes, because they're a lot harder sounding and aggressive in comparison. It helps you to keep your highs in balance I think.
