mmm......this sustain issue is weird. Are you guys using the Dual or Triple? I got myself the Single Rec because i only really need 50w, even at gigs and most of the sustain complaints seem to be on the Single Rec.

I also have an Express 5:50 combo and a F-50 head and those two have much thicker, smoother lead sounds that sustain for days. I can get sustain from the Rec with a BB preamp or a OCD but its still a bit annoying.

I'm using a new dual and at pefromance volume I find it sustains great. not so much at home practise level but tha0'st tube distrotion for ya I guess

Im using a dual too, but at all sorts of levels. Usually its at a venue level or practice level. But quite a bit of times im turned way down. Low enough that normal talking is louder than it. Sustain isnt a problem anytime.

Ive ran it at 50watts once. Not for volume cause the difference is only 3db from 100w and 50w, but just to hear the difference in breakup. It was a bit different but by sound was there and nothing was loss or not sustaining.

50watt mode is for running with a Marshall Greenback loaded 4x12!!
