So i was cleaning my tube sockets with a spare tube and one socket was really sticky and dry, since the guy i bought it from hasnt used it much. As i was rocking the tube back and forth gently, the middle part of the tube broke off and is now inside the socket. its too far down to get tweezers and take it out. Is it even possible to get it out?

It may work. get a round plastic enough to fit into the whole. rub small amount sticky stuff to the plastic insert it and try to pull the part that broke off or you can heat up the round plastic then insert it and try to pull the part that broke off.

Poke a needle into the part that broke off and pull it out.

All the above might work for you.

Good luck.

I had to do this with a friend and his Bowyer Uberschall. Ended up having to remove the chassis to get it out. On a rectifier , it is just four bolts on the underside of the head shell, remove those and then it will slide out towards the back of the head shell. That should give you move room to get some tweezers down in there, or to be able to flip it upside down and get it to fall out. I think we had to flip it upside down and then grab the end that was sticking out with tweezers and then it finally came out. Just be careful and patient and it will come out. it is kind of like getting a pick stuck in an acoustic guitar body. Angle it right and it should come out.

aha! the needle did it! Thanks, never thought of that!

Happened to me, got it out with tweezers.

But here is a second question, I was able to super glue the plastic guide back on the tube and was wondering if tubes are air sealed, and if would have a negative effect on the tube. once exposed? Seems to work ok for now.

Before you do this make sure your caps are drained before poking around the pins and inside the chasis. It could be fatal if you dont.
