Hi

I was browsing the internet for recording tips for a Mark 2c+ .
I then stumpled on some Metallica studio notes where it was written that James used two marshall 1960 cabs into his Mark2c+ and miked both cabs up for a more full sound, wich is exactly what i need.

I have two marshall 1960s here, the have a swich where you can select 4 ohm or 16 ohm,. I called up Mesa a while back and the said with marshall cabs use the 4 ohm out of your amp swich the cab to 4 ohm and run it that way , and i have and it sounds perfect to me, except it needs alittel more fullness when i record.

I just forgot to ask mesa if i could hook up two cabs to the each of the two 4ohm out on my amp.

Will my amp have enourgh Juice for running two 4*12 cabs , or have i misunderstood somthing?

I dont want to damage my amp so eny pointers would be gerat before i do somthing il regreet.

Two 4 ohm cabs would be 2 ohm total and that would not be good....
However, if I understood you correctly, you can set the cabs for 16 ohm each which, times 2 (in parallel), would be 8 ohm total and you would plug them into the 8 ohm output(s).

That would be a safe match. Most Mesa amp manuals have a diagram to illustrate this....if you don't have one, they usually post them on their site.
Good luck! :D

Hmm

Im really a idiot when it comes to understanding the Ohm thing beascily i have no clue have it works, so i need it at kindergarden level :D just checking when i hook one marshall cab set to 4 ohm into the back of one of my amps 4 ohm outs dos that equal a 8 ohm load for my amp ?

For better understanding this , if i connect the 4ohm out from my amp to the 16ohm instaed of the 4ohm on my cab what happens then ?

Her is have the back of the cab looks like http://www.musik-service.de/images/prx/395753034/i01.jpg'

But yes the cab has a 16 ohm connection on the back, so going by theory it shuld be more optimal having two cabs at 16 ohms hooked up because that makes my amp run at 8 ohm instaed of one cab set 4 ohm and into the ohm out of the amp because that must equal my amp running 4 ohm.

Am i understanding this right ?

Use a Y speaker cable, set the cabs to 16ohms. The Y cable will bring it down to 8ohms. I have mine hooked up that way.
Cab 1 16ohm cab 2 16om. The Y cable sums the 2 and brings it down to 8ohms.

Bad link to the cabs.

A 2 Ohm load would cook the death out of your power tubes and stress the Output Transformer.

DON'T DO IT !!!!

Thanks for the warrning , but dont worry i wont .
