Im a new owner of a dual recto. The tubes are old an dI want a change.

What all tubes do i need.... 6l6 and what else? And what is the difference and purpose of all the tubes, and pre amp tubes. What would be good choices for metal, blues, and really piercing cleans. Thanks guys.

TAD 6L6GC. I got mine from the Tube Depot. Best tube that I have found for the Recto.
Find a NOS 12AX7 for V1 as well. Doesn't have to be crazy expensive or rare. Old organ/radio pulls will work, and it will really smooth out the harshness.

I found that replacing the first couple of preamp tubes really helps smooth out the amp. I used JJ's and was surprised that they sounded great. I thought they would be a little too much for some reason... As far as power tubes go, I'm all about some Ruby 6L6's.

i only have a single rec but i found that I LIKE the JJecc83s the best for preamp and i like either the GT E34LS or GT 6L6GE the best for power tubes.......i tried some Ruby 6l6's and while they did sound good they made my amp sound TWICE as fizzy.
