I own the 2 Channel Mesa Dual Recto and currently use the standard 6L6 STR-440s power tubes. I was thinking about taking two of them out and putting in two 6V6 STR-417s to get a kind of hybrid sound. But I didn’t know if this would damage internal amp parts or if this is just a waste of money in general. Also if this idea does work, and will not harm the amp, is there a certain order they should be placed in the tube sockets?

For example from right to left:

1.) 6L6, 6L6, 6V6, 6V6
2.) 6L6, 6V6, 6L6, 6V6

Not recommended if you don't know the tube ratings! If you want a hybrid set-up, contact Eurotubes for they're Integrated Quads! Where different tubes are matched! Concerning the order: two outside, and two inside are pairs! (2-1-1-2)
