Cab clone and MKV

7 string LTD with D-activator's
MKV Channel 2 crunch
Gain 1:00, everything else noon, 90W mode
Voodoo labs sparkle drive everything 12:00
Cab clone > Presonus Firestudio mobile > Garage band
Tracks were panned 30L and 30R and I am using IR's
Open back mode on Cab Clone

No EQ on the guitar tracks.

Wondering what you guys think of the tone. To me, it sounds too dark and muddy. I'm wondering if I have too much gain, or if it's just the nature of the 7 string and the pickups in it. Finally, I have no idea what I'm doing.

I am a novice when it comes to recording so take my opinions as such. :)

Tighten up you core sound by lowering the gain and keeping the bass in check. Maybe try it without any drive pedals too. Next I'd add some space and depth by double tracking a right and left channel. You can either record two separate tracks or eq one side slightly different and shift the time up a couple milliseconds. Experiment with the length of the time shift to get your desired effect.

Have fun!
