Hi, all...Trying to get a "Doobie Brothers China Grove-type" distortion from my Mark V head. Currently using a Tom Anderson HHS S classic. Struggling here...Can anyone make suggestions?

I'd start in Edge or Crunch, or perhaps II C+, somewhere between 10:00 and 11:30... Also, there's a quarter note delay happening; I believe Tom Johnston used an Echoplex for that. Perhaps a little compression in the front might help. Not a lot of bottom to the tone, doesn't sound like a closed back cabinet; use your EQ to tweak the top end to give it a little air if you're using a 4x12.

Good Luck!
