So, this may be a silly question, but I couldn't find a straight-forward answer anywhere and I just want to avoid damaging any of my equipment.

Here's what I'm trying to do... I have a rack unit (Power Amp, Tuner, Reverb Unit) and it currently does not have a preamp installed. For the sake of testing the other equipment (and potentially doing this in the future if the mood strikes me) I'd like to just use the preamp of my Triple Rectifier head by connecting the "Slave Out (to power amp)" jack to my Power Amp.

The reason I'm worried is because I've always been told to NEVER turn on a tube head without a load connected to it. Does the "Slave Out" count as a load? If I have to connect a speaker anyhow it sort of defeats the purpose so I'm assuming that using just the Slave Out is fine but I would like to make sure. The only thing the Mesa User's Manual says is that you can use the Slave Out to do exactly what I'm trying to do, but they don't really warn about whether this counts as a load or not as far as I could find. Mesa is normally pretty good about warning you in the manual if something you might do will be harmful or not harmful.

I will normally be using my Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp in the rack so it's not like I'll ALWAYS be doing this, I'm just trying to make sure I don't "kill" anything if I'm doing it to test out the rest of my equipment or just to play around with different tones.

Thanks!
