I suddenly noticed a strange problem with my Triaxis that never been noticed before. I digged the web for answer, but haven't found this problem occur to anyone. At startup, all channel LED's are lit, and preamp doesn't respond to any front button, but if I switch presets from MIDI controller, preamp switches. Buttons continue to malfunction at all times. I tried to do factory reset by taking the top off and shortcut two contacts (factory load), but it gave no result.
I will be very upset if TriAxis will go away from me... it worth a year of pretty hard savings, and living overseas doubles the problem.

BTW, no power conditioning is used. I do not utilize any more rack stuff, and I have a step-down transformer for 230 mains voltage. I heard that Tri's are extremely demanding to power management.

****... Any chance to fix it, mate?
It still produces some sound when I plug in and play... but dist is not saturated and gainy anymore - more like Plexi on middrive, but then it fades out and shuts.
Triaxis was mine only a year and a half....

Did you change the tubes, check the fuse, and/or call Mesa to help you troubleshoot it?

Calling them on Monday... Fuse was checked first.
And Tri went in the middle of this weekend, when I was recording, so still no chance to change the tubes. I thought if it worth an effort, because if Tri is fried, every tube will cost 15$, and changing 5 tubes is a fatty.

I think you are the third person on this forum with this problem (me included) Nobody posted any solution for this. I officialy declared the Triaxis dead because of this. I bought another one since and pray that it won't do the same.

What did Mesa say about this? Did they offered any check or repairs? I don't actually have money for one more TriAxis - too problematic to get them here to Israel from eBay sellers or any other place in US.

I also live overseas (Romania) so I contacted Mesa through email. They said they cannot do any diagnosis through email, recommended to change the main chips (eeprom, cpu), which I did, with no results. What's worse is that I had to buy the Eeprom from them and it costed me 100 Euros, and unfortunately didn't help.

You should find an authorized service center (look for one in Italy, or Greece, somewhere close to you), they probably will be able to repair it by changing the whole logic board. Be prepared though to pay at least 500 Euros for this. I decided against this, and therefore bought another one. Check ebays from UK or Germany, they pop up sometimes, at decent prices.

Mate, 500 euros = 700$. No Triaxis costs 700$ second-handed. Lowest price = 900-1000$+shipping to Israel+local sales tax (25% including shipping). Whadda you say - what's cheaper? :?

What year Triaxis? :?:
The older ones are known to have unreliable ribbon cables. Ribbons are used throughout this preamp. They affect sound quality and switching functions. I have early '90's model and have replaced ALL ribbons to get it back to 100%.
Problem is, other things can go wrong with the Triaxis, and do. I have replaced burnt capacitors in mine as well. And V5 plate resistors (on both sides of V5, in fact).
You really should get it checked out by a qualified tech, but it is a bummer if you can't find one near you.
If you call Mesa, they may have suggestions, but they don't respond as quickly to emails, unfortunately (if at all).

I wish you....
Good luck! :)

Yes, I know that it would have been cheaper overall to repair the broken unit, but I considered that in the long run it would be wiser to just get another one, and keep the dead unit for parts, etc. The prices for them in pretty good condition are around 700-800 Euros (US voltage ones). For European voltages expect to pay around 100 Euros more.

Any place to order only transformer for EUvoltage?

here's one option http://www.tubeampdoctor.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_46&products_id=868

I got the same problem, because the chip have bugs, you to try ON and OFF the main power many many time then listen the "SEE...SEEEEE" sound. Then the Triaxis original sound is coming.
