So I was at rehearsal tonight and my TriAxis decided to cop an attitude with me. The Rhy channel would work for a bit then cut out almost completely. You could only hear it if you put your ear to the cabinet. Most of the time it was dead and only worked for a second or two after switching presets but quickly died off. Both Lead 1 and 2 seem to be unaffected though. Looking at the input signal on the G-Major, it bottoms out when the signal dies off. Could it be tubes? Any ideas? :(

The rig signal path is:
Guitar - Triaxis - G-Major - Mesa 2:90

First, verify that the problem is not one that is obvious. Confirm that the problem is not the power amp by trying another preamp for your 290, if the 290 works with a known good preamp, you can safely eliminate the problem. Then maybe try swapping cables with known good cables in your signal path. I know the process seems tedious but it's necessary to troubleshoot properly. If you're using a midi controller for your triaxis, might want to completely operate your rig without the controller to verify that it's not a controller problem. Think of ways of checking your amp and G major by isolating them. Even try your G major with someone else's rig and verify that the G major is ok.

Try known good tubes with your preamp if you have spares and see if the problem disappears, if not, it might be time to call Mesa and seek their advice.

I recently received my Triaxis from Mesa with Lead 2 mode problems and they had to change LDR's on the unit. I am afraid from the description of your initial problem, looks like a visit to the shop is inevitable. You'll find that Mesa's customer service is top-notch! Very courteous, non-condescending, and will try everything they can over the phone to help you isolate the problem.

Good Luck!
