Hi there. I have a Tremoverb which I thoroughly love.

Problem is: it's been having volume drop issues since I got it in 2007. It had a retube the first time I noticed, and when that didn't help, I got it repaired four times in the course of five years by the most reputable amp doctor in Belgium (where I live) but he can't seem to locate the problem. Time and time again the same thing happens:

- First, I get a noticeable volume drop on the orange channel.
- After a couple of weeks, the same thing happens on the red channel: volume drop and a loss of bass response and gain.
- The volume drops get worse on both channels, until nothing comes out anymore.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm kind of desperate at this point and actually thinking of just selling it for parts and getting a replacement. But I thought I'd check with you guys first before I do so.

Any help is much appreciated!

My Single Rec Series II just started doing the same thing after 10 years of no issues at all. I tried different pre-amp and power tubes and no luck. I dropped it off yesterday to DC Ladner who hand makes tube amps and is supposed to be the best tube amp repair guy around here. I will give you an update once I get it back or hear from him. I should have it back in around a week.

I have been reading up and have found three possible problems based on other posts:
1. bad capacitor(s)
2. faulty treble pot
3. Mesa's Russian 12AX7's can cause this so try the Chinese ones instead. Dom posted the following link about this issue:

DC Ladner, who is repairing my amp, called me today. He said that I have a bad preamp tube in V1. Apparently the replacement tube I installed was also bad. He said that he checked multiple things on the amp and narrowed it down to the tube being bad. He replaced the tube and has kept it heated up most of the day with no problems. I wish I had more info for you, but am hopeful this takes care of my amp problem. I am getting my amp back tomorrow and will play the hell out of it to make sure it is all fixed. Good luck to you with your amp! Let me know if you figure anything out.

I had a similar issue with my rectoverb. For the longest time I thought it may be tubes. Turned out to be dirty contact in my fx loop. Wouldnt hurt to clean all your jacks, including fx loop with some good quality electrical switch cleaner.
