2000 tverb head. went to use it and the clean channel had ZERO headroom, red channel was very midrange honky like a wah cocked half back. usually this amp has reverb for DAYS...i'd barely have to crack the reverb knobs. now suddenly there is NO reverb and the reverb knobs have somehow become volume knobs for their channel. this all happened w/the fx loop active, but i found that it doesn't matter- the problems persist ever w/the loop off. got frustrated, turned it off. came back an hour later. NO sound. just loud humming. no guitar. i tried all the obvious stuff like changing cables and guitars. i also tried swapping out the V5 tube which controls the reverb. figured it couldn't hurt to try, given that the original problem was related to the reverb. all to no avail. i'm stumped. anyone?

i'm going to try them all, one by one, tonight. given the reverb issue, i went straight to the V5 tube but i suppose anything is possible. if i don't post back by late tonight, the problem is solved. wish me luck!

nope, no luck. tried every preamp tube, one by one. the problem won't go away. while changing the preamp tubes i noticed that one of the 6L6's appeared to have a separation where the glass joins the base of the tube. kind of like a loose tooth. got my hopes up that i'd found the problem, but no. all the amp does when i turn it on is HUM. if i dime the gain and master, i can very faintly hear my guitar. for what it may be worth, when i take it out of standby, i can hear the reverb swell up a bit...not loud, but i can hear it. i can also hear the reverb "boing" in reaction to the pop when i switch channels. too bad, got a great deal on this. looks like my savings will be going into a repair now unless anyone has any ideas...

Sounds a lot like what my T-verb has been doing for years. Got it fixed a couple of times but a similar volume drop problem occured time and time again. It's doing fine just for now, except that the reverb is almost gone.

Freaks me out because it's a lovely amp, but it's come so far that I don't feel I can trust in it anymore.

i spoke to someone at boogie and they feel it's an LDR issue. I believe there's something like 23 of them in the amp, so that could explain why you keep having issues. i'm going to look into having them ALL changed (if that's the real issue w/mine).

Have you tried some electrical swtich cleaner on all your your jacks? input, fx in and out, etc...

My Rectoverb would fade in and out sometimes, I had a tech look at it who swore it was bad tubes. It turned out to be some crap in the fx loop jacks.

i suppose it can't hurt, especially since i have contact cleaner.
